Our Story
Built for Businesses
RBI-Cert was founded in 2026 by a team of carbon policy specialists and industrial auditors who saw the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism coming years before it became law. While others scrambled to understand the regulation after it passed, we had already built the methodology, the tools, and the expertise.
When EU Regulation (EU) 2023/956 entered into force, we were ready. We made formal arrangements with our EU-appointed auditors to become a qualified third-party facilitator whose audit reports are trusted as the benchmark that EU authorities trust.
RBI-Cert serves global industrial importers to SMEs navigating CBAM for the first time. Our consulting, auditing, and training practices are led by practitioners who work with the regulation every day.

A Timeline of CBAM Leadership
Responsible Business Initiatives (RBI) was founded and served EU and US based customers for social accountability autiting, ahead of CBAM regulation announcement.
EU CBAM proposal published. we began advisory work with first industrial importers.
EU CBAM Regulation (EU) 2023/956 enters into force. We developed thought leadership through participating in various international symposiums.
The transitional phase begins (October). RBI-Cert leadership started declaration reviews in Q4.
We started delivering trainings and building capacity in various institutions.
Our leadership engaged principals in 12 EU member states.
Full CBAM financial obligations in effect. RBI-Cert made formal arrangements with 3rd party verifiers to conduct audits in global south.
